Our Estimate Process

  1. Upon initial contact with a potiential customer we collect general information about the type and location of their timber.
  2. Next we perform a drive by of the property to look at the tract of timber so we can determine if it is merchantable.
  3. If the tract of timber is determined merchantable, we can then make suggestions on the type of harvest it needs. Options include thinning, clear cut, seed tree cut, residential cut or for commercial development.
  4. If an agreement is made, we then "cruise the trees", measuring the diameters and heights of trees to generate a ton volume estimate for the tract.
  5. Payment for the timber is then made to out customers in one of two ways:
    1. Pay as Cut Basis - On a pay as cut basis, the owner is paid weekly for the wood that has been harvested, based on volume and stumpage rates. This option benefits the owner because they get paid for every tree removed from the property.
    2. Lump Sum Purchase - With a lump sum purchase, the value of timber is determined and payment in it's entirety is made before the timber is cut. A two or three year timber deed guarantees a time for when the timber must be harvested.
